What is a mortgage?

Mortgages can be classified by two methods - firstly according to how the mortgage is repaid, and secondly according to the individual circumstances of the borrower.

How the mortgage is repaid?

Your mortgage may be classified as repayment, interest only, or repayment and interest. Another type of mortgage is an endowment mortgage, where you make payments into an investment policy with the objective of using accrued funds pay off the cash balance of the mortgage at the end of the term.
