Yorkshire reduces rate on fixed-rate mortgage
Thu, 15 Jul 2010
Yorkshire Building Society has reduced the rate on its five-year fixed-rate mortgage to just 3.99 per cent for those consumers with a 25 per cent deposit .

The new mortgage product will offer the lowest rate for a five-year fixed deal ever offered by Yorkshire .

Borrowers moving home or looking to remortgage can, from Friday (July 16th), apply for the best buy deal at only 3.99 per cent with a £995 fee.

Added to this, the society is offering a best buy ten-year fixed rate deal at 4.99 per cent for those with a 75 per cent deposit, with a fee of just £495.

Tom Girling, product manager for mortgages, said: "Although we are currently in a low base rate environment, it is inevitable that rates will rise in the next few years.

"Both our five and ten-year deals offer great value and piece of mind over the medium and longer-term - reducing the risk of any future interest rate rises."

This follows Santander's recent decision to reduce rates on its two and five-year fixed mortgages .
