Mortgage customers should look around to make sure that they are getting the best possible deal, one expert has claimed.
Pauline McCallion, editor of Your Mortgage, explained that just because the market has experienced problems in the last six months it does not mean there are not good remortgage deals out there.
She said: "It's always worth having a look around to see if you can save a bit of money on your mortgage repayments ."
Finding a remortgage deal could help people cope with other factors such as the increasing cost of fuel and food, Ms McCallion added.
However, finding a deal might be tough with most mortgage lenders introducing some form of restriction on who they will offer a deal to, she stated.
Research by the British Bankers Association found that, in April, the number of people taking out a remortgage increased by 24 per cent to 74,722 when compared to the previous month.
