Mortgage holders who plan to move house in the coming months may be interested to hear that the Association of Home Information Pack Providers has reaffirmed its commitment to the June 1st 2007 date.
From the start of June onwards, all properties that are sold in the UK must come with a home information pack, which includes features such as title deeds and an energy performance certificate.
And despite recent criticism from some mortgage holders and property analysts that the deadline is unmanageable, the association has written a letter to the UK's housing minister Yvette Cooper that underlines its intention to honour the existing timetable.
"Our recent letter, which was sent directly to Yvette Cooper, offers unequivocal assurance from the industry that it is ready to offer packs as of June 1st," explained Mike Ockenden, director general of the association.
Originally, it was expected that mortgage holders and other property owners looking to sell up would have to arrange a home condition report as part of the home information packs.
However, the government has since made a volte-face on the issue and last year confirmed that the report would be an optional, rather than a mandatory, element of the packs.
