The details unveiled by the government for the implementation of home information packs have been welcomed by the Association of Home Information Pack Providers.
This week, a government consultation has outlined in more detail how home information packs will be used when they become mandatory on June 1st 2007, in news that may be of interest to mortgage holders looking to relocate later this year.
One of the plans is for energy performance certificates to be positioned at the top of the packs to highlight any energy-efficiency issues before people decide to take out a mortgage and buy a property.
And Mike Ockenden, director-general of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers, said that the organisation welcomed the "vital role" that the packs can play in combating global warming.
Moreover, he also praised another development that could potentially ease the selling process for mortgage holders across the UK.
"Allowing properties to be put on the market, after local searches … have been ordered but not necessarily delivered, will eliminate any initial hold-ups regarding the marketing of the property," he said.
When the scheme goes live, all mortgage holders will have to arrange the production of a home information pack before the property can be sold.
