Yorkshire named mortgage lender of the year
Fri, 07 Jul 2006
UK borrowers looking to find a mortgage may wish to opt for Yorkshire Building Society, as it has been named mortgage lender of the year.

The Mortgage Magazine Awards named Yorkshire as the best mortgage provider for the second year running.

A panel of mortgage experts and researchers decide on the winner, based on factors including product range, service, quality and value.

Iain Cornish, chief executive of Yorkshire, commented: "I’m delighted with the award.

"At the Yorkshire we have consistently offered our borrowers long-term value mortgages through a range of innovative and market leading products, fair pricing practices and by allowing flexibility to cope with their changing needs.

He added that the company combine value with high quality service and transparent products.

Yorkshire offers buyers a wide range of mortgage services, including remortgages, offset mortgages, discount mortgages, tracker mortgages, first-time buyer mortgages and other services.

The building society is one of the largest in the UK, with 1.8 million members and assets of £16.3 billion.

It also claims that it was the first UK building society to commit to remaining mutual when other societies opted to become banks.
