First-time buyers or those moving house can now benefit from a legal service offered by Nationwide Building Society.
The mortgage lender has launched a conveyancing service for those taking out a mortgage for a first purchase or those moving to a new property .
It is being made available through LMS, a national network of licensed conveyancing companies, and is aimed at keeping buyers and sellers informed on all aspects of the property purchase.
The online tracking service goes hand-in-hand with the mortgage lender's mortgage application tracking service, which sends mortgage borrowers texts or emails about the various stages of their application.
"Buying a house can often be a complex and difficult time for a consumer," comments Andy Knee, managing director of LMS.
He believes the new conveyancing service will "go a very long way in helping make it a stress-free experience".
Larry Banda, head of mortgages at Nationwide, agrees, adding that the service could save mortgage borrowers time and money.
"Unlike other providers, our fee is fixed so customers are not entering a postcode lottery," he says. "If the worst happens and a sale or purchase falls through then there are no conveyancing fees to pay."
The fixed fee for the service is based on the price of the property and whether it is freehold or leasehold . It can be arranged at the same time as the mortgage.
