An offset mortgage that offers a fixed mortgage rate is now available from Intelligent Finance (IF).
The mortgage lender is offering the mortgage , which charges a mortgage rate of 4.99 per cent, to potential homebuyers and people looking to find a remortgage .
Offsetting allows mortgage holders to offset their individual savings accounts and current account savings against their mortgage .
By doing this, mortgage holders avoid paying tax on the interest they earn on accounts and also lower their mortgage repayments .
What is more, mortgage holders will have no limitations as to the level of savings they could offset against their mortgage .
The mortgage, which offers the fixed mortgage rate until the beginning of February 2008, offers a maximum loan to value of 85 per cent. A maximum amount of £500,000 can be borrowed.
An arrangement fee of £499 will be charged by the mortgage lender . During the mortgage term, unlimited lump sum overpayments are also allowed.
