A new tool was launched this week to help people find an independent financial adviser (IFA) who may assist them to find a mortgage .
IFA Promotion (IFAP) announced the launch of the search facility named 'Find a mortgage IFA' at impartial.co.uk.
This is because IFAP believes that when trying to find a mortgage, consumers need to get financial advice that is truly independent.
When borrowers find a mortgage, they are bombarded with further options like whether or not to take out life insurance for mortgages.
IFAP found that more than half of borrowers took out life insurance for mortgages, and nearly a third took out some other form of mortgage protection.
Around 28 per cent of mortgage holders also started an investment plan alongside their mortgage in the last five years, which calls for extra financial advice .
The new 'Find a mortgage IFA' list details of over 5,000 mortgage IFAs. These IFAs' credentials and authorisation have been checked with the Financial Services Authority.
People wanting to find a mortgage could search these names as well as use selection criteria like postcode, gender and details about the mortgage they want to find.
Managing director of IFAP Karen Barrett said they have been working hard to build a confidential service to really help those wanting to find a mortgage.
