GMAC-RFC is now one of the top ten mortgage lenders according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders.
In the last five years, the mortgage lender jumped 50 places up the rankings, from 60th in 2000 to tenth spot.
After being in the running for seven years, GMAC-RFC is now reckoned among the top names in the mortgage field.
According to the mortgage lender's executive chairman Stephen Knight, they are "genuinely delighted" to have reached one of the top positions in the Council of Mortgage Lenders rankings.
"Our growth has been driven by focusing on product innovation and providing extremely high levels of service," he said
Mr Knight said the mortgage lender is well positioned to remain a top ten mortgage lender and "certainly have the appetite for further expansion as an organisation".
The mortgage lender provides mainstream, niche and non-conforming mortgages to first time buyers , homeowners and those looking to find a remortgage .
These borrowers received £6.3 billion worth of mortgage loans last year, almost a third more than in 2003. This growth is attributed mainly to the mortgage lender's success in America and its ability to leverage from global resources.
What makes this particularly exceptional is that the mortgage market as a whole showed only five per cent growth between 2003 and 2004.
