Mortgage holders want loyalty rewarded, survey says
Fri, 29 Apr 2005
Britannia Building Society revealed that 65 per cent of British homeowners expect their mortgage provider to reward them for their loyalty.

If the borrower does not feel valued, Britannia found, he or she would very likely switch providers.

"Moving mortgages is a growing trend, as it becomes easier to do and is more widely promoted," said Tim Franklin from Britannia.

"Some lenders offer special offers too, so that homeowners can sometimes make a switch with minimal cost to themselves and with a large cost saving overall. Customers are now much more knowledgeable about the options available to them."

Brittania issued tips to mortgage holders to ensure they get the rewards they feel they deserve and also to change providers if they feel they will be treated better elsewhere.

The building society said mortgage holders should check what other benefits they get from their mortgage company . They should ensure their interest is calculated on a daily basis and shop around for insurance .
