
The Bank of Scotland was founded in 1695. It grew rapidly in the 20th century and it merged with Halifax to form HBOS in September 2001. It has assets of over £440 billion and it is the UK's largest mortgage and savings provider.
HBOS has around 2.5 million private shareholders and is the largest private shareholder register in the UK. Profit before Tax for the year ended 31st December 2004 was £4.6 billion.
It provides home owner mortgages through the Halifax. Please see the Halifax for the types of mortgage they offer. Bank of Scotland, however, does offer business mortgages directly. You can choose from:
