
On the 11th January 2010 Abbey National plc, which included the Bradford & Bingley savings business, changed its name to Santander UK plc.
Abbey National Building Society was founded in 1944. In 1989, Abbey became a PLC and floated on the London stock exchange.
In 2003, the company shortened its name to Abbey and became part of the Grupo Santander (Spain's largest financial group) in November 2004.
