What's more, those signed up to the Rate Alert newsletter will receive instant notification of any changes to the base rate as soon as they are made.

The base rate was held at 5%.

Historical data for Bank of England base rate changes since the year 2000. When a month is not mentioned, this indicates the prior interest rate was held.
